Karsmakers

Here is the link for the webpage of Karsmakers, where you can have nice breakfasts and/or brunches.

Food!!

As an expert on seafood, she also recommends Le Zinneke for mussels in Brussels.

Here are Bertrand's recommendations:

RESTAURANT ROUGE TOMATE
190 Avenue Louise
1050 Bruxelles (IXELLES)
www.rougetomate.com
Good cuisine, nice place, nice terrace when it’s sunny (!)
Highly recommended
A bit expensive, but it is worth it!
For the first and/or special date.

MILLESIME
rue Eugène Cattoir 5
1050 BRUXELLES (IXELLES)
Very good restaurant; the menu is not big but very fresh food.
For the second date!

The two following restaurants belong to the same family, a Belgian culinary dynasty.
High level quality.
Expensive but ordering just one course is OK.

LA MARIE-JOSEPH
Quai au Bois à Brûler 47- 49
1000 BRUXELLES
For fish: (there is nice fresh fish and chips – take a look at the deserts).

CANTERBURY
Avenue de l'Hippodrome 2
1050 BRUXELLES (IXELLES)
Specialty: poultry
Huge terrace under chesnut trees in front of etangs d’Ixelles.
Go and have lunch on a sunny day in the summer.
Nice Brasserie menu, very fresh food.  (Belgian bourgeoisie atmosphere!)
No website!

LA QUINCAILLERIE
Rue du Page 45
1050 BRUXELLES ( IXELLES )
Same owner as Le Belga's.
A place to see with a nice brasserie menu; a bit expensive.

Simple restaurants, brasseries:

VOLLE GAS
Place Fernand Cocq 21
1050 BRUXELLES ( IXELLES )
Good Belgian family culinary.
Recommended!!

LE SCHIEVELAVABO
There are several good restaurants at place Jourdan!
I know the one behind Theatre St Michel and I recommend it:
Woluwe-Montgomery
Rue du Collège Saint Michel, 52
1150 Woluwé Saint Pierre
Student and family restaurant, not a lot of space, small tables, good and not expensive.
Terrace for summer.

L'ESPRIT DE SEL BRASSERIE
Place jourdan 52-54
1040 BRUXELLES ( ETTERBEEK )
Good brasserie restaurant .

Good fondues
Given that winter is coming, here are two places I know:

L'R DU TEMPS
Avenue Hansen-Soulielaan 78
1040 BRUXELLES ( ETTERBEEK )
Traiteur, as well; they can deliver food (cheap and OK; they can also deliver newspapers and cigarettes!)
Swiss specialties, mainly cheese fondues
A bit strange, wooden atmosphere like a Swiss chalet.
Can deliver food.
Lend plate for take away fondues.

MET JEANINNE
Avenue d'Auderghem 152
1040 BRUXELLES ( ETTERBEEK )
Meat specialities.
Meat fondues.
